Alumni

Welcome, alumni friends!

We’ve missed you! 2021 marks 50 years of Quaker education through Richmond Friends School (or “The Children’s School” as many of you knew it!). So much has changed through the years, but our commitment to children has not.

Did you know…
…we have a middle school?
…we now operate Trueblood Preschool?
…we have renovated the space at West Richmond Friends to make the middle school and before/aftercare more functional?
…we have our own VAN? (Field trips, here we come!)

Did you know…
…10 Richmond High School valedictorians since 2003 have been RFS students?
…we still don’t administer standardized testing?
…we now teach Spanish, art, and music from preschool through 8th grade?
…we distribute about $90,000 in scholarships and financial aid each year?

We are thriving, and we want you to be a part of it! So how can you stay in touch? Well, for starters, we encourage you to join our private alumni Facebook group. You can use that space to reconnect with old friends and find “throwback” photos from years gone by. We have a public Facebook page as well, and honestly, we are even hip enough to be found on Twitter and Instagram. If social media isn’t your thing, no worries. We’d much rather see you in person anyway. If you are in town, please visit. Call 765-966-5767 and request a tour so we can reconnect!

Update Your Info!

Alumni Information

Thank you for spending a few moments updating your information. We are eager to stay in touch and help you connect with former students, teachers, and families.

  • First, Last, and Maiden (if applicable)
  • Please enter the street, city, state and zip. We would love to keep in touch! Your address will be entered into our database but never shared with other organizations. (And obviously, we would never sell your information!)
  • We know it’s tough to remember! Rough estimates are welcome.
  • Tell us what you do for a living or share something about recent life events.
  • Who do you remember? Are there friends with whom you’d like to reconnect?
  • Share anything you’d like. Special memories of Kay, field trips with John, walks in Earlham’s back campus while at Trueblood…whatever!
  • We love to highlight our alumni! Are you willing to be on social media or in a newsletter? It’s easy- just a photo, a sentence about where life has taken you, and perhaps a word or two about how the school affected you. Thanks to folks like Jon Bottorff, Jessica Richmond, and many others, this process has already started! (We will contact you via email if you agree.)

Testimonials

"In addition to all the things that you consider as studies, RFS is teaching students what makes you a good person and a person that can operate in a complicated world. That is what it means to me when RFS says it educates the whole child.”

- Alex Eastman- RFS Alum
"I was worried about finances, but the head of school sat down with me and was understanding of my circumstances and worked with me to create a plan so Juniper could attend. I was excited that she would get to be at a school where she can be anything she wants to be and everyone will accept and love her."
- Sunshine Rankin and Juniper Dixon
"When we place nature at the center of our community, we come to realize the true abundance of the world we live in. This school puts these seeds of hope in its students; it changes how they move through the world, and it changes the communities they enter for the better.”
- Kian Eckert - RFS Alum
"Day to day, week to week, we have seen big jumps from Nico and Johanna. They feel excitement. They come home, and they want to share what they’ve done in class that day."
- The Casas-Sheets Family
“We needed an opportunity to give our daughter a healthy environment to grow, and RFS aligns with our values. Lucy has built a lot of confidence and friendships at school, and we love that she gets to interact with younger kids which wouldn't be possible in a traditional school setting.”
- The Burkhardt Family

"The teachers at RFS are able to give so much attention to individual students, so they don't get lost in the crowd of a large class. I love that Garret feels safe trying things that he may be initially uncomfortable or nervous about."

- The Kirk Family
"Before enrolling here, Tristan struggled with dyslexia, which caused him to fall behind in reading. Thanks to the kind teachers and kids at RFS, Tristan is now reading at grade level and is beginning to enjoy it. He loves coming to school in the morning!"
- The Harris-Tyner Family

"We chose RFS because the Quaker values inform every aspect of learning and teaching- those values are vital to the world and to the individual."

"I chose RFS for the great learning environment.  Hands-on independent learning that encourages children to progress at their own pace."
