Richmond Friends School has never used letter grades to evaluate student achievement since this evaluation form is not specific enough to help parents, students, and teachers properly appraise student progress. The RFS faculty have created student evaluation forms that focus on specific learning outcomes. These outcomes are grade specific, with the exception of middle school, and are based upon the voluminous Indiana Academic Standards , which range from 36 to 52 pages for each grade level. These evaluations are used to pinpoint specific areas of concern, areas of mastery, and student progress throughout the year. The faculty have added sections to the evaluations to cover some areas (such as physical education, arts, and social/emotional development) that are not addressed in the state's standards.
The evaluations are sent to parents at the end of each semester. Additionally, there is a parent/teacher conference at the midpoint of each semester to enhance communication and focus upon particular areas of strength or weakness. You can click on the following grade levels to download a PDF of that evaluation.
